• Enrolled in any business program at Muskegon Community College (degree or certificate) that could lead to employment in human resources.

If you’re a high school or homeschooled senior, current college student, early college senior, or adult student, the Community Foundation for Muskegon County (CFMC) may have a scholarship for you. We manage one of the largest scholarship programs in our area, with $1.2 million committed to students in over 800 new and renewed scholarships awarded each year.
 

• For graduating seniors or current college students, our scholarship application period opens October 1, 2021 and closes February 1, 2022. Scholarships are awarded once per year.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide two scholarships annually to reward excellence in musicianship and to encourage study of music at MCC. Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 annually, disbursing $500 per semester, to two students meeting the defined criteria.

This scholarship was created in honor of former MCC President, Dr. Frank Marczak and Marlene Marczak, to support the study of chemistry.

Requirements:

• Complete a minimum of 12 credit hours at MCC at time of application/award.
• Enrolled full-time at MCC, with stated major of chemistry or chemical engineering.
• Currently enrolled and taking chemistry courses at time of application (award applied to only the semester in which student is enrolled in a chemistry course.)
• GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Essay that explains the reason for pursuing a chemistry.
• Students currently working with instructors in research will be given a higher priority.

Established by former Foundation for Muskegon Community College board member and MCC alum, Tom Dake, in honor of his parents and their passion for continued achievement. Scholarship awarded in form of credit at MCC Bookstore, which can be applied to any required books or materials for Applied Technology courses.

Requirements:

• Preference given to students who reside in Orchard View school district
• Enrolled at least half-time at MCC during semester of award(s).
• Must complete FAFSA to demonstrate financial need.
• Achieved a high school diploma or has 2.50 GPA at MCC

The International Studies Scholarship provides an opportunity to participate in MCC travel abroad programs. This faculty-supported fund was developed to help students gain a broader world view, build international perspective, develop self-confidence, and develop a career path that recognizes the importance of understanding different cultures.

Requirements:

• Full-time status at MCC at the time of the application and award.
• Ability to fund at least half of the cost of the study abroad experience.
• Academic excellence, GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• 200 – 300 word essay explaining how the International Study program will have a positive effect on academic experience (12-point Calibri or Times New Roman font, double spaced).
• Interview with the International Coordinator.

Amount: $500

Students must be in the process of completing a 2 year degree or certification. Students who plan to transfer to a 4 year institution are not eligible. Can be awarded as a refund  and used for non-tuition needs such as books, supplies, etc.

Requirements:

• MCC GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• Preference given to Muskegon Heights residents.
• Current, adult students enrolled in the Applied Technology area.
• Associate in Applied Science (AAS) or Certificate program required.
• Financial need determined by the Financial Aid office.

This scholarship was established by James Wellise to support MCC art students.

Amount:  $4500 ($2250 for the Fall semester and $2250 for the Winter semester)

This scholarship is specifically for students who reside in Muskegon Muskegon County and permanent resident of United States who are pursuing a degree in STEM. 

Requirements:

• Minimum 2.5 GPA at Muskegon Community College
• Earned at least 14 credits at Muskegon Community College

• Must maintain all requirements for each semester awarded

Amount:  $1000 (divided over 2 semesters; 2nd award given if recipient meets GPA requirement)

The purpose of the Mary Kennebrew Lyons Endowed Scholarship is to provide financial assistance and to encourage attainment of an associate degree from the College.
 
The College shall choose the recipient(s) of the Scholarship(s) in accordance with college policy and criteria established by the Donor. The scholarship shall be open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship, disability, age, or veteran status.
 
The Donors desire to support annual awards of one scholarship beginning with the 2023-24 academic year: The Mary Kennebrew Lyons Scholarship.
 
Student applicants will be considered based on the following criteria:
 
1.  Applicants must complete a Muskegon Community College scholarship application form.
2.  Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 as an entering student or continuing student
3.   Recipients may be eligible to receive second semester award if academic requirements are met
4.   As this scholarship award is merit based, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not a requirement
      for award.
5.   Financial support may include assistance with tutoring, transportation, technology.
 
Preference may be given to applicants who attend the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.

• Possess a minimum 2.0 GPA (based on a minimum of 12 MCC credit hours earned at the time of application).

The Sparks Belting Scholarship was established for students pursuing a degree or certificate in Applied Technology.

Requirements:

• Students must be pursuing a certificate or degree in the Applied Technology field.
• A cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or better (high school or MCC)
• Students can be in-district or out-of-district
• Must complete the MCC General Scholarship Application
• Student must be enrolled a minimum of 12 credits per semester awarded.

Amount Up to $500

Spencer Norman, community activist, mentor, brother, father-figure, teacher, and friend to all in the Muskegon Heights Community. Spencer (1947-2012) was a founder of the Coalition for Community Development and an active member of the Friends of Muskegon Heights Branch Library.

Requirements:

• Must be enrolled at Muskegon Community College.
• A 2.0 GPA or better.
• A resident of Muskegon Heights.
• Write a one-page letter discussing the applicant's educational or career goals and a description of how the applicant plans to help (or has helped) other people in some way.

Amount: Up to $500 ($250 per semester).

Tina Dee is MCC’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. She dedicated over 20 years of her career to the field of marketing and communications, including 15 years as an adjunct professor at GVSU, teaching PR, advertising, and other communication classes. She resides in Grand Haven with her husband, Scott Lampe, an award-winning packaging designer.

Requirements:

• Reside in the Grand Haven Area Public School district
• Attending MCC on at least a half-time basis at time of award
• Working towards an associate degree, with plans to transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public service, packaging design, or other related field
• Single parents and graduates/pending graduates of Grand Haven Central High School are strongly encouraged to apply

This $1,000.00 annual scholarship is to provide supplies, including books, to support the successful completion of courses in a tech program (certificate, degree, or transfer) at the Sturrus Technology Center.

Requirements:

• Students must be enrolled in courses relevant to a profession in the coatings industry.   Courses may include, but are not limited to;

The West Michigan Veterans Coalition Military Family Assistance Fund is a limited financial assistance program that was established to address the immediate quality of life needs of Military-connected Families during a time of temporary financial hardship.

Requirements:

• Be able to supply proof that you live within Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Lake, Kent, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, or Ottawa county.
• Be a current or former member of the Armed Forces or a spouse of a deceased or deployed service member.
• Supply a copy of your DD-214, Retirement Letter, NGB-22, Letter of discharge, Letter from current unit commander if still serving, or current orders.
• Provide proof of residence ( driver’s license, voter registration, state ID).
